Happy End-of-the-Month, Vampires! Take a deep breath and get ready for a super start to September tomorrow! Professional growth is, as we know, a significant part of AISB’s Future Plan. In this week’s Tech Bytes, we focus on using collaborative technologies with both colleagues and students.

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!
ISTE Standards for Educators (2.4) states: “Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems.” Collaborative Technologies Collaborative technologies are web applications that allow users to create, analyze, exchange, and share information in a collaborative and interactive manner. Here, we will highlight a few of the collaborative platforms that we use at AISB.
Padlet is an extremely easy-to-use tool that allows learners to collaborate online by posting text, images, links, documents, videos, and voice recordings. To use this with your students, please bookmark and always access this page. Click on the image on the right for full instructions showing how to log in and set up a Padlet for students to use. Here is a video that shows Padlet from a student perspective.
Book Creator is a great tool for students to collaborate in creating books. With the free account, you can create one library with up to 40 books. This video shows you how. We do have licenses for avid Book Creator users! Get in touch with us if this is you! This article explains how to have students working on the same book at the same time. We would love you to experience this from a student’s point of view, while also sharing resources with colleagues (see what we did there?). Follow the instructions on the right and add a page to our collaborative faculty book!
If you love Book Creator, you might be interested in the Book Creator Certified Author course, which has just been updated to reflect all the awesome features added over the summer.
Other collaborative technologies we use at AISB: - Peardeck
- EdPuzzle
- Google Suite – Docs, Slides, Jamboard
