Hi there, Vampires!

As we head into the holiday, you might be thinking about pursuing an individualized pathway! You might:
  • engage in inquiry and self-directed learning, driven by curiosity and the desire to build on passions and personal interests

  • have an active role in planning, designing, and demonstrating one’s own learning

  • engage with a network of mentors and innovative education opportunities in order to explore a multitude of experiences, building on interests, and developing skills along the way.

Today, we feature some opportunities for growth, highlight a teacher who has been pursuing a Seesaw pathway, and share some resources that could help your students to find something they become passionate about.

But first, here is one of the latest infographics from TeachThought:
10 Characteristics of a Highly Effective Learning Environment. The full article, unfortunately peppered with ads, is here.

Supporting Student Well-Being (2 hours online, FREE!)

“Supporting students’ well-being is paramount in this new age of education. With the many outside elements that affect our daily lives, it can be challenging for our students to focus on learning. Understanding how to reach our students and aid in their development of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills are necessary components to fostering a supportive community for our learners.

This course will provide strategies that educators can use to support student well-being, through the use of meaningful connections and impactful technology integrations.”

Limitless Mind in the Math Classroom
is partnering with Dr. Jo Boaler to share about mindset, struggle, and visual approaches to math that will make a big impact in your classroom. Dr. Jo Boaler is a Standford Professor and author of the book Limitless Mind: Learn, Lead and Live without Barriers. She co-founded www.youcubed.org to give teachers, parents, and students the resources they need to excite students about mathematics. All registrants will receive FREE ready-to-teach Seesaw Lessons that make it quick and easy to implement these strategies right away.

It’s on February 24th, and you can register here. It’s at 2:30am Bucharest time, but Seesaw usually records and shares the recording with registered participants.
Our very own Sara Tye is now a ‘Featured Author’ on Seesaw. Her published activities have received over 7,000 likes and have reached over 39,000 students!

When you create an activity, please consider sharing it to the Community Library, as well as the AISB school library. This will enable teachers worldwide to add it to their own libraries (‘like’), and assign to their students.
The Kid Should See This is an award-winning collection of 5,000+ kid-friendly videos, curated for teachers and parents who want to share smarter, more meaningful media in the classroom and at home. It’s free and available for everyone!
