Hello, Vampires 🦇,

Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen two major learning events happen on campus. First, the Grade 10 Personal Project, and also the Grade 5 PYP Exhibition. Both of these events require huge investments of time, energy, and commitment from students and teachers, so we want to highlight just a few of the many achievements that have transpired.
Caro, in Grade 5, focused on Hunger in Romania and created a virtual reality CoSpace for her audience to be immersed in! Participants in Caro’s Xperience used Google Cardboard to view her space. Thanks to Dan Metzger for sharing his knowledge and expertise in CoSpaces during Caro’s creation process.
Andy, also in Grade 5, focused on ‘Accessibility with Technology’. He showcased the Easy Dyslexia Aid app and also explained accessibility features on the iPad. Click on the image on the left to watch a small part of his presentation.

Claudia-Luana, one of our Grade 10 students, created a robotic head with eyes and mouth that was connected to an external AI source so that it could respond to questions. She wanted to learn more about designing, building, and programming robots that were internet-connected and that could communicate and integrate with external AI sources.
Tai, also in Grade 10, created a digital course guide, including a syllabus, for use in advisory sessions for high school students. The main goal of the course is that “students will be able to define Intersectionality and analyse how it affects the Roma Community in Eastern Europe”.
Come play and learn at AISB’s first Scratch Party!

As mentioned in last week’s Tech Bytes, May 15 – 21 is Scratch Week. Scratch is the world’s largest coding community for children and a coding language with a simple visual interface that allows young people to create digital stories, games, and animations.

Open to all!

After a very short introduction to the platform, you will have time to play, explore, and ask questions.
